Written by Sirasri
One of the most remarkable characteristics of a society’s culture is the dress the people wear.
In the view perspective of the traditional aspect, the customized dress for Indian men comprise dhoti, lalchi et al. But with the inundation of western culture into India since the inception of the British in the name of East India Company, the dress of Indians slowly revolutionized with a mixture of traditionalism and modernity.
Especially, more consent is shown on what the women have been wearing. Despite the trend of jeans and tops is in fashion, Saree, the national attire for Indian women, although appears to be outdated, is still gaining its prominence in new appealing designs.
Veteran actor and writer Tanikella Bharani once acclaimed that Saree is the sexiest dress in the universe.
It is known to the Telugus across the world that half-saree has got its importance in the traditional attire of unmarried young girls of Andhra.
But, out of surprise, it is appearing against to the popularly known belief.
At times, a new design is being found on the roads of Hyderabad. Middle aged women and married women are seen dazzled with gaudy silk half sarees. The interesting phenomenon is that the majority of the small numbers of women who wear these half-sarees occasionally are not Telugus but North Indians.
“ Women look more beautiful in sarees. It looks sensuous and tempting to heart and eyes. Young girls look more feminine only when they wear sarees”, says Puneeth, a degree college student.
“Indeed, it is the configuration of a woman that decides the beauty of the saree. Blouse is a piece that plays a very vital role in gluing beauty to woman. It is not far from truth that it is the design of the blouse that defines a woman to be either respectful or beautiful or sexy or lusty”, says Hyderabad based fashion photographer, Iris Satyam.
Low neck, mirror incepted, strip type, short kind, embroidery designed et al are the model types of the blouses those appear among the women at the shopping malls and festival places.
A few women are being seen gorgeous with aptly tailored blouses that suit to their figure and flesh. It is an understanding of the proprietor of a ‘saree mandir’ in Hyderabad, that young women are tending more towards sarees, these days, unlike the recent past.
However, the resplendence and glory of the saree has been growing strong in Hyderabad.
